Just a little something to collect my thoughts. Just a little place to be real. Life is sweet. Life is hard. And life is everywhere in between. This is where i share pieces (sometimes very raw) of this journey that is my life . . .

Ripples in a pool . . .

As I stood there worshiping God, my attention was drawn to the pool outside. There was a slight breeze with occasional gusts of wind. As the wind blew, at whatever rate, the ripples in the pool were affected. Leaves floating on the water were send to the end of the pool in whatever direction the particular wind gust was blowing. But there was a difference between the deep end and the shallow end. The deeper the water was, the less it was affected by the wind. The changes in wind on the deep end of the pool were far less drastic than on the shallow end. And even further, the leaves that had made it to the deepest part of the pool and had gone to the depths of it, were not affected by the wind at all. Being in the depths of that water, being consumed and overwhelmed by the water is the exact thing that keeps them stable and protected.
God has that for us as well. Our safest and most protected place is in the depths of HIs love and care. And he used this brief moment to show me this. Our lives are often life the leaves that we see on the tops of pools. We often float along on the subjects of life and God, sometimes even struggling to stay afloat. When we stay on the surface or the fringe, we are often easily swayed by the elements; people, emotions, circumstances and Satan. The deeper we go with God, however, the less those things can move us.
There is beauty in being steady and especially in our faith. Satan’s goal is to render us ineffective and a fleeting faith is the way he can get a quick stronghold. But God wants to protects us and we can be steady and stable in Him.
It takes more effort to get to the depths and we naturally tend to float to the top but it is worth it. We must decide and continue to dig to the depths if we want more. It is so worth it! As soon as we stop doing what we must to stay in those depths we can and will float back up to the top. And it happens so easily. So we must choose today. We must continue to choose for tomorrow.
